Cancellation and Refund Policy

  1. Cancellation Period: Cancellations must be made in writing and received by MedEdQuest at least 30 days prior to the scheduled departure date.

  2. Refund Policy: No refunds will be provided for cancellations made by travelers. However, in the event that the travel agency cancels the trip for any reason, travelers will be entitled to a full refund of all payments made or offered the option to reschedule for another available date.

  3. Change Policy: Changes to travel dates or itineraries may be permitted subject to availability and additional fees. Please contact MedEdQuest for more information.

  4. Health Insurance: All travelers are required to obtain appropriate health insurance coverage for the duration of their trip. This insurance must include coverage for medical emergencies, trip interruptions, and cancellations due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances. It is imperative that travelers ensure their health insurance policy provides adequate coverage for international travel.

  5. Force Majeure: MedEdQuest reserves the right to cancel or modify a trip in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, civil unrest, or government advisories. In such cases, the travel agency will make reasonable efforts to provide alternative arrangements.

  6. Travel Insurance: In addition to health insurance, we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance to protect against unforeseen events that may result in trip cancellations or interruptions.

    • You must be 18+ to apply, while having certain health care certifications or studies is considered an advantage, anyone can apply. It is also required volunteers to be proficient in english or spanish

    • Takes place in the pacific coast of Costa Rica at communities that lack access of medical services.

    • No, but it is considered and advantage.

    • Medical induction by the lead doctor and basic medical training.

    • It is a self-funded experience and any additional expenses during the trip must be covered by the volunteer.

    • Improving access to healthcare, enhancing community health outcomes or conducting health education sessions. Through their volunteer work, medical students not only provide much needed assistance but also gain valuable hands-on experience, cultural competency, and a deeper understanding of health care disparities.

  10. Can I receive academic credit or certification for participating in the program?

    • By the end of the trip every volunteer will receive an accomplishment certificate with accredited hours.

  11. How can I prepare for the medical volunteer experience?

    • We highly recommend volunteers to bring repellent for insect bites and also get all the recommended vaccines as described by the CDC before the trip. We also emphasize to bring your own prescribed medications for the duration of the trip, as well as your own medical instrumentation such as stethoscope and blood pressure cuff, could be digital or analog.

  12. What safety measures are in place for volunteers?

    • There will be a leader for the duration of the trip in the case of any unforeseen event 24/7 on site.

    • There will be future trips and everyone registered will get notified.
